Frequently Asked Questions

How do I take my first photo?
  1. Grant permissions when prompted (tap Continue through each system dialog)
  2. Optionally add your contact info so it's embedded in every photo
  3. Tap Start a Walkthrough to enter the camera
  4. Aim and tap the shutter button — your photo is saved immediately with GPS (if enabled)
Where are my photos saved?
Photos are saved directly to your iOS Photos library in a Site Cam album. Open the Photos app to view or share them. Nothing is stored on any server.
Do photos include GPS coordinates?
Yes, if you grant Location permission. Every photo automatically embeds latitude, longitude, altitude, and a timestamp in the EXIF metadata. You can verify this by swiping up on a photo in the iOS Photos app to see the embedded map. Location permission is optional — the app works without it, photos just won't include GPS data.
How do I add a voice caption?
After capturing a photo, a caption sheet appears. Tap the microphone icon and speak your note. Site Cam uses Apple's on-device speech recognition to transcribe it. The caption is saved with the photo and embedded in the EXIF description field.
How do I create a project?
Tap the project selector at the top of the camera view, then + New Project. Enter a project name and number. Site Cam automatically associates new photos with the active project and can detect nearby projects by GPS.
How do I export a PDF report?
  1. Open the gallery
  2. Tap the export / share icon
  3. Choose PDF Report
  4. Fill in report metadata (title, date, notes)
  5. Tap Generate — the PDF opens in iOS share sheet so you can email, AirDrop, or save it
Can I use Site Cam without an internet connection?
Yes. Site Cam is fully offline. No account, no sync, no network required. Everything is stored on your device.
How do I remove GPS data from a photo?
  1. Open the iOS Photos app
  2. Select the photo
  3. Tap the share icon → Options (at the top)
  4. Turn off Location
  5. Proceed with the share — the recipient gets a copy without location
Or tap Edit menu → Remove Location (iOS 15+).
Is my data private?
Completely. Site Cam stores everything locally on your device. We do not collect, upload, or share any of your photos, location data, or personal information. There are no analytics, no ads, and no accounts. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
